Please update us once you make the switch as many of us are in the same boat and wondering if changing the box actually makes a difference...

It will make a difference and it's already been posted. Many channels that don't work on a mag that work on a buzz. Especially the ppv, We have been saying for months to use a different box anything other then a mag and i think i even read a member was having a problem with sound on many channels using a T1. The server wasn't the problem. I know the mags have run their course and everyone that owns or owned one got their moneys worth.Things always change for the better with electronics and i would say your doing well if you got a year or two out of a box.
Then you got this problem with a Mag and never know when and if it's going to stop working....

To my amazement, I have been using the Mag from the day it came out and never had a problem. Was that about 7 years ago? I think it's because I have never updated the firmware and have the original one on it. Would that be why?

Probably because it has the original firmware. But there are also going to things you don't get on it.

Really? Like what? It appears I get all the channels, the Live video club works, the PPV works and the good ol' pornos work.

There has been many complaints of older mags not playing certain file types.I guess you have a special one.

shooty could not have said it better

                        c/p

Certain PPV movies are, and have been, encoded using High Efficiency Video Coding (HEVC/H. 265) video compression format.
Mag254 does not support this new format, so, ... no video!

I know a lot of people get frustrated and tried reinstalling or upgrading the firmware and settings hoping it'll resolve it. It won't. When the TV or server is down, it's down! Time to go do something else. It always pop back up eventually.

I didn't notice any of that. The PPV are working on my end. Which movies have that encoding? I'd like to check that out.

I dont know right now. Im not hating on your mag. If it works for what you need it to do, then you all good. It is old tho, like that old tube tv you dont want to get rid of cause it still works. Lot of things have changed with the new stb's out now.
