  • Internet Connection

I have a mag 254. I recently moved to a different apartment with a new internet service provider.

I connected the ethernet cable to the mag box and the router. The mag box says Page loading error. The internet is not connected but the ethernet says enabled. Is there anything else i need to enter such as IP, DNS etc for the internet to work?

If your modem is not provisioning the IP config automatically then yes, you will have to enter them manually but is very weird that a internet modem doesnt come with DHCP enabled by default. Before you go into configuring the IP manually make sure that the box is set to use DHCP, not a fixed IP, also test connection a PC to the same ethernet cable and make sure that it connects to the internet without problem.

If you have a PC with working internet connection check the network settings and take that info to config your MAG, remember that you have to modify the last section of the IP to something different in the MAG to prevent conflicts.

If you plug in your MAG and connect your ethernet cable, then reboot your Router.
*(press Routers reset switch, don't just unplug it).
It should automatically assign your MAG an IP.
If it doesn't, your Router is not set for DHCP (and it should be normally).
Also check your Routers indicator lights are on for Internet signal
