  • Discontinuation of guide_kens & guide_iptv

I will stop producing guide_kens.xml and guide_iptv.xml (Reseller Guide that did not contain any Provider or Forum information).

Both of these guides are compiled with the old channel names and are only used with Playlists that have been made prior to June 2018.

    Since I have Posted a new Template (2nd Update on July 23rd.), it is advisable to make a new Playlist and use the new guide_ks.xml Source URL;
    Code:
    https://raw.githubusercontent.com/kens13/epg/master/guide_ks.xml
Will continue these until approx. Aug.1st.

    PM me with any concerns
    /kens

          READ Again...
I am not making 2 of the 3 guide formats.
The two I am no longer compiling are for the old channel naming scheme.(No HD & SD Listings)

The new guide is matched to the new channel scheme (ie: HBO West / HBO West HD)
The new guide matches the Data from the Server as it is now.
The other guides matched the previous channel scheme no longer available from the Server, and IF you use a custom playlist from a Template that was made before June 2018, it has the OLD Channel naming convention also.
I have Posted a new Template which uses the NEW Channel naming scheme... so if you use a custom m3u playlist, download and edit with your info and make a new m3u playlist.
Use the new guide URL (just change guide_kens to guide_ks)

            Hi Kens.
Is there a tutorial to help one know the channels names that are needed in order to the epg match and show?
Are you familiar with kodiepgguide website and if this guide can be massage to match the channels name from NFPS?
Once upon a time I was learning PHP and learned that it was not very difficult to read a website webpage and parse it to pull information you may want.
So if you dont have time to keep the list updated and you want to help me I can try to see if I start again learning from scratch php to help everyone.
            Thanks

you can just copy the Channel list from the link on the banner at top of this page.
Then you need to get the XMLTV Channel ID's for each channel you want data for.
Then you need to use a Grabber program like WebGrab+, MC2, XMLTV etc. to configure and get your data requests.
You should also use a service like Schedules Direct as a main data acquisition source.
Then you need to change the Channel names to match each channel "Exactly".

I grab data from 2 US, 1 Can., 1 UK, and 1 MEX source.
I grab 4 days worth of data, and do this every 3 days, guaranteeing no users go without.(Global user timezones).
I then replace the Channel Display names in the guide (Remove 3-4 different names and replace with just 1 that matches the Service)
I then Remove over half of the Information that is not required by our users (Actors, credits, ratings, video/audio info, etc). This makes loading of the guide faster.
I then add some basic Service Information, if needed, to the guide data.
I was producing 3 separate guides requiring changing all channel names and extra info but will now do just 1.
You then have to Post the guides on a host server that can handle the access requirement.
...you would think it would be easy!
