  • What is the default playlist?

So I've downloaded a few playlists. Finally figured that out. But I realized that I much prefer the default playlist when I logged in using my donation instead of via playlist file. At the same time, I want the capability to sign in using playlist (for various reasons). So, is that playlist one of the ones on the donation management page? I tried Generic M3U and Generic M3U with options. Neither of them is the one I"m looking for.

'Generic M3U with options' is the closet you will get to what is seen when connected thru the MAC portal
The channel numbering may not match (depending on the STB or program you are using), nor will there be an EPG until you add an EPG URL into your setup...but otherwise that is the Playlist.
It is in .m3u format and is the reason for the few differences.

The 'with options' part means that the file has tag allowances added. The tags are the channel logos, the channel IDs and descriptions and etc..

I see. I guess I'll just have to get used to Generic M3U with options. Thank you.

Acid's EPG works with papiao service, if you need an EPG URL to go along with that Playlist.

        Code:
        https://raw.githubusercontent.com/acidjesuz/EPG/master/guide.xml
        *fixed mistake

Since I see you here online, is it http? or https? thought it was https from looking at the acids post. Nothing set up here for me to test to see if both work.

Seems I do not know for sure. I think it is indeed with the s (https)
I have it copied onto a few text files and some show as http and some as https.. don't ask how that happened

I have been trying to check it on a STB, but seems it does not want to populate in either form.
I had it working a few days ago but have since wiped them slots clean.

I also have the papiao server EPG URL and when I attach that papiao EPG URL, then the EPG info does populate fine. But Acid's won't with http or https... I must have a mistake somewhere.

So far I have tried on 3 different STBs and am not getting any different results..

Going to start up Total Commander app next and do some copy and pasting with that .... instead of keyboard typing, and if there were any mistakes, the copy/paste should fix that.

I been at this almost a whole hour now .... i am beginning to feel like a rookie ... lol

            Papiao EPG URL
Replace p# with correct portal number and replace the asterisk (************) with your 12 digit donation number (username & password)

            Code:
            http://p#.iptvprivateserver.tv:80/xmltv.php?username=************&password=************

Guess what? I got my Buzztv box today and the Generic M3U with options menu is just how i wanted it. I didn't expect the same playlist menu to appear different on the buzzbox vs the firestick. So, it all worked out perfect for me in the end.

BTW, I got the buzztv xrs400 and so far it works great. It fixed another problem I had on the firestick. Now i can watch VOD.

                  nice

And an update with the http and https thing.
Indeed it is https and Acid's EPG is now fully populating.
I think acid musta had to recently do a 'pull' or something cause it is now 100% working.

You can add acid's EPG URL into your BuzzTV 4000's playlist setup as well Harry.

I'm guessing this is done in the M3U settings where I entered my current playlist in the field that says says "xml epg (optional)". If so, do I add it as a new playlist or edit my current one?

Thank you! I thought I was going to have to get used to not having a guide. I can finally see what's playing. This is great.

Is there an easy way to enter the epg url without having to type it all out? For instance, I downloaded the playlist on my pc, put in on a usb stick, and then connected it to the buzz box. I was wondering if there was a similiar way to the that with the epg. I'm asking because I'm considering doing this as a business or at least for friends and family and don't' want to type that long url every time.

You could use a file manager app like Total Commander

The length of this tutorial makes it seem like alot of work, but once you get things setup, it is easy peasy

How to copy and paste those long URLs.
It can be a pain typing out those entire URLs into the areas with your Server or Streaming or M3u setups.
The 'copy' from text function is not something that can be done with most of these Androids, they need a File Manager to do that.
The 'paste' function is an ability that your box does have. But we would need something to paste, so here is how...

We will need a File manager and many will do this job but of all I have tried, I do like the Total Commander for how it uses it's abilities in a efficient manner, more so then ES File Explorer.
BTW, you do not really want to use the ES File Explorer any more these days, as it went thru many new owners/developers over the past few years and ended up being an app that is full of advertising and other un-needed and un-wanted surprises and of some of which may mess up your android box , so never use ES File Explorer to stay away from possible issues.
The FX File Explorer kinda works the same as ES Explorer and is a good alternative, but it still does not match the Total Commander for our purposes here.
The FX File Explorer is a great Manager thou when it comes to some other things, so you might wanna try that one out at a later date for other functions

Okay, back to the Total Commander...
The site below is where I get my Total Commander APK from.
Download it and put on USB storage device and side-load that onto your Android box.

                              Total Commander apk
                              Code:
                              https://total-commander.en.uptodown.com/android
Ghisler is their home developer site
                              Code:
                              https://www.ghisler.com/
But I do not think they develop the Android version there at ghisler.
They develop the Windows versions, which were the original versions.

Or you could find the app in your onboard Market

                              Okay...
For this example I am going to use a 'fake' m3u Playlist URL and as well will be adding a EPG URL for that Playlist too.
To get your Playlist URL, log onto your code at papiao website and remove the MAC from your code, if there is one there. Then you should see the Playlist URL appear. Copy that.

                              So we need those URLs
The Server's Playlist URL and the EPG URL

My example is shown coded below and is a FAKE Playlist URL, but does show what a m3u Playlist URL would look like ... and will suffice for our tutorial here.

                              Code:
                              http://s2.iptvgogo.tv:88/get.php?username=123456789&password=123456789&type=m3u_plus&output=ts
And we will be using the EPG URL , which are shown below. This URL is real and does work for papioa services.
                              Code:
                              https://raw.githubusercontent.com/acidjesuz/epg/master/guide.xml

What you need to do now is create a notepad text doc on your PC or Laptop's desktop.
Name that text doc as --> Server and EPG URLs ... or name it 'Aunt Jane's Cookie Recipes',.... name it anything you want

While still working on your PC or Laptop Desktop...
Open the Server URL doc with Notepad text editor and paste the full Playlist server url in there and also paste the EPG URL in there too and then save and close the document

Load that doc onto a USB storage device drive.

Okay now you should already have the Total Commander loaded onto your Android TV box and you should now have the text docs sitting on your USB drive.

We will also want a wireless mouse or USB attached mouse with your Android TV box.
We do not really need this as you can use the Mouse feature on your Android remote. But if you have access to a remote mouse (wireless or other), then use that as it will be a great help with navigating around when coping the text using the Total Commander app.

Now insert that USB drive into Android TV box.
Next is to now open the Total Commander app (it will be located in Your Apps, found on Home screen. Scroll down to bottom of Home Screen and back up again and the 'All Apps' option will appear, look in there.
Open Total Commander and you will see two sides of the same thing, that is an old trick used by Linux systems, It helps with editing, coping, transferring and etc... but we only need the one side that we will be working with.
Look for your USB drive there. Mine shows up as the brand name of the USB device (SanDisk)
Open that and find the Server URL text doc and open that (highlight and click on it).

You should see the URLs appear on screen.
Now, this is where that remote mouse works nicely.
Long press left click on it (at the end of the text) with mouse and an edit bubble and a context menu should appear. Select All and then select Copy.

If using the remote mouse feature you may have to try long pressing the OK button or perhaps hitting it twice to bring up that edit bubble and the context menu.

                              Copy the Server URL

Now close that Commander app and open the Server Settings found on Home screen (use the back button or your mouse to back out of the app or right click mouse if using a mouse).
Open M3U slot and Add M3U playlist
You will next see a place to add the server name... Add a name, any name will do, or leave it named as ' M3U playlist 1 ' as it does show as default name.
Exit the onscreen keyboard (with Back button on your RCU).
Scroll down to the next line ' M3u Playlist URL ' and with your mouse Long Press / left click and the context window should appear again and this time with the Paste function available.
If the Paste function is not showing and only the Copy and Cut functions are showing, then your coping process from earlier did not work for some reason .

Assuming it worked, you will now need to either use the Connect function or the Save function because we will need to exit this Playlist slot now and we do not want to loose that 'pasted' URL
The Connect function does save the URL and as well does the Save function.
So exit out of there and back to Total Commander and do the same process for the EPG URL and once that is copied, open Playlist 1 slot again and paste that EPG URL in the correct line and either Connect again or Save.

This all seems like alot of work just to bypass the need to type these URLs out in full form in those lines, but this is rather easy once you have it all setup and can be way to confirm there are no mistakes in typing the entire URL manually.

It takes more time to read this entire posted tutorial, then it does to do the actual process,,

for more important info, check the next post on this thread.
