  • NTP Pool Timeservers

I am wondering if anyone has tried this, or if it may result in a workaround Fix for the MAG / DL (Stalker) EPG guide offset problem.
I figure if it does work, the STB Time will be off, but the EPG guide data will be correct.
I do not have any of these Units, so if someone can try this and feedback the results. /Thank You

When setting up the MAG unit, the NTP server is usually entered as "pool.ntp.org".
This will search for the closest time server and save the closest servers to your location.
You cannot adjust the Timezone as it is automatic.
You can though, enter a timeserver from another country or zone, that is offset time wise, of your guide data.
The format URL is "xx.pool.ntp.org" where the xx is the country or region.
    Below is a list of countries that have active Timeservers in the NTP Pool;

Find a country in the offset timezone and use the URL listed for the localization of your STB.

    I'm curious!!!
    /Thanks in advance

Isn't this the same trick as just setting up a different time zone ? In other words, if you're in the central time zone, set your box for the mountain or pacific time zone. The stb time will be off but the sliding timescale in the EPG will be accurate. This trick has been known and discussed for months and months. Or am I misunderstanding you ?

yes. with some mags, you cant set the zone.(unless I have read wrong).

Like I mentioned, I dont have these stb's.
I may have misread users posts, but if I did, there is a lot of people with complaints for no reason.

With a t1, you have the option to set the time zone, but that doesnt change the epg. For instance, the time shows 2 hours off in the epg for whats playing, if you change the timezone so your box shows its 2 hours earlier, the epg still shows the same playing but now the guide time is right. I dont think there is a place to change NTP pool timeservers in a t1. I know there is a place in a mag to do that. Ill have to dig through the garbage to see if i can find one! lol

I've posted this before but I dont have this unit.
I've been told it works until you shut down, then it resets the time settings to auto, and screws it up again.
** So leave the unit on!!!

          close all apps.
Go to Android settings/ Date & Time.
Turn off Automatic or Network Time adjustment and set to Manual.
Change your Timezone +/- according to the EPG Schedule time offset error.
Adjust the Time +/- so it reflects actual time where you are.
Back out of Settings and launch LiveTV program.
          Guide "should" be correct.
*Like I said, don't shut the unit down"

There is no Date & Time option under Android settings? Unless im missing it. When you go into the settings of the t1, one of your options is date & time. One of your other options is android, but there is no date & time under android settings. And there is no option to set time to manual under the date & time option.
