  • is MAG254 dead?

A few months back a number of channel lost sound on my MAG254, and since my donation was just about over at the time I just let it go, and went back to my Android box using free streams on there. WHich is driving me crazy, several of the channels we watch here daily are completely flaky, feeds changing ever few mounts, down, wrong channels, [put extended ranted here]

So I need to know if the auto issue on channels in the 170's range still exists? If so, I guess it's time for a new box, any recommendation for a new one that affordable won't be a paper weight next year? because I'm about ready to introduce my android tv box to a hammer..

In all honesty you will be better off with a new box.Not Mag either,Here is something i C/P for you
Infomir, the manufacturer of the popular MAG range of set-top boxes, says it will block the portals of suspected copyright-infringing IPTV providers following complaints from copyright holders. While MAG devices are used to access plenty of legal services, the news will come as a blow to large numbers of customers who use the very capable devices to access unauthorized platforms.
So it's time anyways. The best boxes are the Buzz Boxes. The new Buzz XPL 3900 seems like it's a pretty well built box.
    Some specs.

ok, thanks.. You said "android 7.1.. so is this something I could load on to my Android tv box for now? I have a MXQ Pro 5.1.1, it a few years old, so it may be too old, but on a disability income I have to try cutting corners anywhere I can.

No the buzz tv box has a app that is used for iptv. You can also use it just like you use your android. The app is just for buzz boxes. You could set up your android to use till you can save for a buzz.
I just don't use one so i'm no help there but i can find you a link that will help you.But you can't beat a box that is made to have iptv in mind.

any links would be most welcome. usually when I trying googling for stuff these days I find all spam and misinformation sites, so help is always well.
If memory servers there's a STB emulator that does pretty on Android. I tried it on my tablet for a while, steams were ok. but all the "remote control" function pop up and over lay the screen, not sure how that's behave on a Android TV box. guess I'' have to give it a try as a starting point

Are you sure on the Buzz XPL 3900? I can find a 3000, but not the 3900. I looked at some utube videos and the 3000 looks pretty impressive. but on ebay all I c an find is the 3000 in Canada, no 3900..
