  • WiFi for MAG254

Would an old Netgear WG111v2 work with my MAG254 to give it Wifi vs. using the wired network cable?

As long as you can flash it with ddwrt or if it can be used as a repeater.I use a old one flashed with ddwrt and it worked really good with a mag 250

I should have mentioned this is a USB Wifi adapter I use to use on my laptop. I'm thinking it would be handy to have my MAG254 on wifi so when I move in a while I can get set back up faster then get cables in place later on..

Ah i see. problem is only certain wifi adapters will work directly plugged into the mag. The way i did it with a old router worked perfect and seemed much faster then amy adapter plugged into the usb on the mag. There is a list somewhere with the adapters that work i will look around and see if i can find it.Or just plug it into the mag and see if it works.

Like said though you can use a old router and flash it with ddwrt and have something that works allot better then any wifi stick.Old routers that work can be found at second hand stores for 5 to 10 dollars.Just google ddwrt and you will see what will work.
