  • Mag 254 Choppy picture quality

I have a Mag 254. The picture quality is pretty good however it's very choppy. What I mean by choppy is if you put on CNN and watch the ticker on the bottom of the screen it kind of freezes for a slit second and then starts again, as apposed to a nice steady motion going across the screen. Al my channels pretty much have the same issue. I have tried messing with the video settings but can't seem to fix it. Not sure if it's my box or my internet speed. Has anyone dealt with this issue before and if so how did you fix it?? It only seems to be on the tv channels. The VOD movies seem to be fine.Thanks.

Yes, channel 300 does the same thing. I find it makes it very hard to watch, gives me a headache sometimes!!

I had the same problem with my old mag250 maybe i can help, go to system settings, video, change video output mode to 1080p-50 and the graphic resolution to Same as Video, save and reboot your box.

I tried your suggestion, It only gives me a 1080p-60 option, changed the resolution to same as video. Unfortunately the picture is the same, still choppy.

This problem has existed since day 1. It's not your internet speed. I'm not very knowledgeable about this but I think they're dropping frames to conserve bandwidth.

gunlighter as far as i can see their channels are running at 29.97 fps commonly used by standard tv broadcasters which is ok for non-sport channels like HBO that most of its programming isn't live content thats why i asked if the issue was also present with hbo channel. 59.94 fps is mainly used for sport channels.

In my opinion mag boxes have a very poor hardware and player causing a lot of buffering and this kind of issues, as mentioned in my previous post i dont have that kind of problems watching the service in my apple devices

Thanos, you undoubtedly know much more about this than I do. But couldn't they drop, say every other or every third frame, from the original source and then transmit the remaining frames at the proper rate that you measured. I'm not trying to defend the Mag254 at all, but I use it quite a bit as a media player and it plays all my avi's, mkv's, mp4's, etc. etc. just beautifully. But I'd be more than willing to trade up to a T1 if that would solve the problem. Of course we'd still have all those EPG issues.

I got a T1 Plus some time ago and at the moment is the best STB that i have tried, take a look at my review

                      https://iptvzeta.is/forum/nfps-iptv...plus-vs-mag254

gunfighter the live streams are harder to process and that's why it demand more than what a mag actually can provide
