  • No Audio with Video

I have a MAG 254. Everything was operating properly before I did a System Reboot. After the reboot, I get beautiful video that loads faster but no audio. I've checked all the settings and they're still the same but I still have no audio. Has anyone had/have similar issues?

Is this with HDMI or AV cable ?

          Hi six degrees,
My MAG 254 is connected by HDMI cable.

You know NBS, now that you mention it, my video does look washed out and the colors are not as vivid.

With the loss of audio and with the video quality having changed, that sounds like a faulty HDMI cable or HDMI port.
Try another HDMI cable or an AV cable

OK, thanks six degrees. I'll try a new HDMI cable. I've been using the same HDMI cable for 4 years now and have never had a problem with audio or video until I rebooted the box 3 days ago.

Hey six degrees! I unplugged all the cables to the unit and plugged them all back in and the normal color is back in the video and the audio is back! Thank you so much for the tip! Who would have thought that would be the issue!

                      cool beans

                      HDMI cables can be tricking.
They carry alot of data thru them. They do also carry AC power too and can even power up a device if connected to a Media Center thru HDMI and with no other power source connected.

This is why a good quality HDMI cable is important

Make sure the HDMI is a 2.0 or 2.1. It'll handle all the data plus more. They're made for 4k even though your MAG254 won't produce 4k resolution. Don't get the cheap $3 HDMI cables found on Ebay

Thanks so much Unknowuser. I'll get some upgraded HDMI cables now knowing what I do about the current running through them.
