  • T2 DOL2 DD5.1 - nope?

    Hi,
I picked up a Dreamlink T2 on recommendation from my service provider (**********.com) that it has a great EPG.. and it does.
On most channels I get sound but some I don't.
The ones I don't are Dolby Digital.
Yesterday I noticed a 'you need a codec' message, and clicked it, and no sound still [notably, I didn't notice if there was sound before it prompted for the codec, but I suspect not]
I have seen posts around to install the codec pack from addon-linker, so I did, but no change.
I uninstalled and reinstalled DOL2 and (after re-typing all my info with the remote, sigh.) went to a no-sound channel, expected to receive the codec prompt, but didn't, and no sound still.
If I use another provider (SET) I can get sound on the channels that I can't through DOL2 but they're obviously using different streams.
Apparently if all streams are AAC then it works fine.
I would like to not get suggestions to switch providers, etc., and would like technical info on where this addon-linker installed the codec so I can remove it properly and attempt a reinstall.
I'd rather not factory reset and have to reconfigure everything, as I have seen posts of people trying that but still not working.
I looked in the Android system sound settings to try and disable DD (in case it happened to auto-switch to AAC if I went to a DD channel and my box "doesn't support" it because I disabled it) but couldn't find anything pertinent in there either.
Hope this is enough info on what I've tried and such so that I can get some smart people's suggestions
    thx

    weird.
I was on a channel that had no sound, and I had moved the STB a bit and the remote couldn't see it from the couch so I went to move it a bit and as soon as I touched it I got a shock (it's winter and dry here), the box turned off, I said oh shit, it rebooted fine, did the 'checking for updates blah blah', and, uh, sound.
also, in between that, I plugged an optical cable into the back of the box and into the TV (but noticed that the TV was optical out so that was useless but possibly did something in the box that made it think that when I unplugged it it should run DD audio through HDMI?
